Southbound DC 295 reopens after police investigation

WASHINGTON — Southbound lanes have reopened on D.C. 295 at East Capitol Street. The lanes were closed earlier Wednesday morning while police investigated a shooting.

D.C. police said a man was found shot in the 2600 block of Sheridan Road SE, he was conscious and breathing when police arrived and took him to a nearby hospital.

Police believe the shooting happened along southbound D.C. 295 near East Capitol and closed the lanes while they collected evidence. They reopened the road around 6 a.m.
