WASHINGTON — A fire in a commercial building in the heart of Georgetown remains under investigation.

D.C. firefighters were on the scene at 1216 Wisconsin Ave. Northwest, just north of M Street, closing the busy street in Georgetown for three hours

When firefighters got on the scene around 6:30 a.m. Friday, they found the second- and third floors on fire.

Canvas Hair and Nails is located on the second floor. Goorin Bros. Hat Shop is on the first floor. The restaurant next door is El Centro restaurant.

“The fire was quickly contained with some minor extension into the restaurant at 1218 Wisconsin,” Deputy Fire Chief Robert Callahan tells WTOP.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries, D.C. Fire & EMS tweeted.
