​Bethesda’s Fresh Baguette is expanding to DC

Fresh Baguette, the Bethesda favorite that opened in 2013, is opening its first D.C. location.

The business has signed a lease for 1737 Wisconsin Ave. NW in Georgetown for a 1,600-square-foot space that was formerly home to a Sweet Frog frozen yogurt shop, according to Constantine Gogos of Papadopoulous Properties, who represented the landlord.

Sweet Frog closed in early 2016. Fresh Baguette’s flagship location is at 4919 Bethesda Ave., and the business, which is owned by three French natives, according to Bethesda Magazine, is also planning to open a commissary bakery and small retail operation in Rockvill e.

When it first opened, Fresh Baguette aimed to bring traditional French baking into a more modern bakery setting. In addition to the eponymous bread, the bakery makes a range of French and Viennese pastries, macarons and other sweets.
