WASHINGTON — A Waldorf, Maryland, man was arrested Thursday and charged with murder after police say he killed his mother.
Mario Marchell Dunn, 32, stabbed his mother, Swanda Ruegenea Dunn, 57, while they were driving home from a relative’s house, police say.
After killing her, Dunn removed his mother’s body from the car and left her in the roadway, according to Charles County Sheriff’s detectives.
Her body was found on Jan. 11 on Old Washington Road near Smallwood Drive.
Police served a search warrant at her house, where her son lived, and found evidence that linked him to the crime.
Police have yet to identify a motive.
Dunn has been charged with first and second degree murder, assault and other charges.
This is an ongoing investigation.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call 1-866-411-TIPS.
