Woman, 66, killed in head on crash by speeder who eluded police

WASHINGTON — A high speed police pursuit ended with a fatal head-on crash near BWI Marshall Airport in Anne Arundel County Friday afternoon, killing another driver, down the street from a police station.

Maryland State Police say Louise Donner, 66,  of Linthicum, was killed after a speeder eluded police and then drove the wrong way on Aviation Boulevard, smashing into her car head-on.

Johnathan Simms, 31, of Baltimore was spotted by a state trooper doing 72 in a 55 mile per hour zone eastbound on MD 100, according to police. The trooper tried stopping Simms, but he refused to stop and instead accelerated.

Simms turned off the highway and onto MD 170 northbound, and then turned right onto Dorsey Road, which runs along the southern edge of the airport.

State police say the trooper then ended the pursuit, and Simms kept going.

He turned onto Aviation Boulevard, heading in the wrong direction, and crashed head-on into Donner’s car, about a quarter-mile away from Maryland State Police’s Glen Burnie Barracks.

Donner was pronounced dead at the scene.  Simms was injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.

State police say Simms is in police custody while he is being treated and several charges are expected.

Police are still investigating what led up to the crash.
