Md. man’s Facebook boast leads to his arrest

WASHINGTON — Crashing a party is a jerk move; bragging about it on social media only makes it worse. But a Maryland man got some fast payback last week.

Sean Kovalick Jr. posted on Facebook last Friday night that he had crashed a party in Glen Burnie, Maryland, Fox5 reports. He wrote that he was at a party at Michael’s 8th Avenue, and added, “Don’t know anybody here or why they are even here but the beer and food is free lol hopefully nobody asks me why I’m here.”

In response to a comment, Kovalick said that he thought he was at a politician’s fundraiser. He wasn’t.

The next day, Anne Arundel County Sheriff Ron Bateman replied to Kovalick, saying that the event was in fact a fundraiser for him “that you stole from.” He added, “That was a bad play for you” and said he would “stop by your house in the next day or two.”

That worked out even worse than it seems — it turned out there was a warrant for Kovalick’s arrest, for having failed to show up for traffic court last month, Fox5 reports.

Kovalick agreed to meet with Bateman, and was indeed arrested. The sheriff’s office tells Fox5 that Kovalick told Bateman that he had no excuse for his behavior.
