WASHINGTON — A carjacking suspect has been arrested in Potomac, Maryland, after leading police on a chase in Montgomery County and barricading himself in a town house Tuesday afternoon.
Police identify the suspect as Perry Marcel Bryant, 46, of an unconfirmed address. Bryant has been charged with one count of armed carjacking, one count of attempted kidnapping, and one count of home invasion.

Police found Bryant inside the town house unarmed, but found a gun inside the car he had allegedly stolen and crashed.
Around 2:40 p.m., police responded to a call about carjacking at a home in the 7200 block of Honeywell Lane in Bethesda, Maryland. The suspect, later identified by police as Bryant, led police on a chase in a stolen BMW through Bethesda and into Potomac, said Montgomery County police spokesman Paul Starks.
In the area of Falls Road and Tuckerman Lane in Potomac, Bryant drove off the side of the road, into a wooded area, and bailed out of the car. The suspect then ran into a residence and police worked to make contact with him, Starks said.
Bryant had barricaded inside a town house on a cul-de-sac in the 11900 block of Frost Valley Way in Potomac. There was no indication that anyone else was inside the house, said Starks.
Police responded to a report of an armed carjacking, but it was not clear at the time if the suspect had been armed or not, Starks said. People in the area were advised to stay indoors with their doors locked.
Students at Wayside Elementary and Cold Spring Elementary were released around 5 p.m. after dismissal was delayed and students and staff had sheltered in place.
