Man evaluated after driving through BWI Marshall fence, boarding plane

WASHINGTON — A 42-year-old Laurel, Maryland, man drove through a fence at BWI Marshall Airport Saturday, and now police confirm a man made it onto an unoccupied aircraft, leaving a backpack there before police arrived.

The backpack contained papers and personal items, according to Lt. Kevin Ayd with the Maryland Transportation Authority Police, but Ayd told The Baltimore Sun that “nothing alarming” was found.

It’s not clear what type of aircraft the man was able to board, but Ayd was quoted as saying it was a “smaller aircraft” at  Pier D near the terminal.

Police said the man was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, The Sun reported.

As of Monday afternoon, no charges related to the incident had been filed.
