Multiple shootings investigated in D.C., one deadly

WASHINGTON — Police are investigating multiple shootings in D.C. Friday night, killing one and injuring at least three others.

A man was fatally shot around 9:30 p.m. Friday in Northeast Washington. Police say it happened near the corner of Anacostia Avenue and Hayes Street, Northeast. No information about a suspect or suspects has been released.

In a separate incident, four people were injured in a shooting near a high school in Northeast D.C.

Police say it happened just before 10 p.m. near Eastern Senior High School, located on East Capitol Street, Northeast, near 17th and 19th streets.

Witnesses tell NBC Washington’s Shomari Stone the victims were found on the school’s outdoor basketball courts.

The victims were taken to an area hospital, and police say they were conscious and breathing. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

In a third incident, a man was taken to the hospital after being shot. It happened in the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road, Southeast, near Stanton Road, Southeast. Police say the victim was conscious after the shooting.

No additional information has been released at this time.
