Summer-like temperatures coming to DC area on first weekend of spring

This may be the first weekend of spring, but the warming temperatures will give the D.C. region a brief break from the cold.

7News First Alert Meteorologist Matt Ritter said that Saturday will bring partly sunny skies and mild temperatures in the mid 60s to low 70s.

Saturday evening and overnight, expect the temperatures to dip into the 40s and 50s before a big warm up for Sunday, where temperatures are expected to reach the upper 70s to low 80s.

“It will be partly sunny and unseasonably warm,” Ritter said.

But that doesn’t mean it will be completely dry or clear on Sunday evening.

Ritter said to expect “increasing clouds and a few showers and thunderstorms in the evening hours and overnight.”

He added the cold front coming into the region from the north on Sunday could bring a line of thunderstorms and some gusty winds.

On Monday and Tuesday, the D.C. area is expected to return to seasonable temperatures, with highs in the mid to upper 50s.

“On Monday there will be variable clouds and sun and it will be breezy and cooler,” Ritter said.
