WASHINGTON — The Washington Wizards will be without the services of point guard John Wall for the next two weeks after he underwent an MRI on Friday.

Wall, the 27-year-old, four-time All Star, had been experiencing discomfort and inflammation in his left knee after making knee-to-knee contact in the Wizards game against the Dallas Mavericks on Nov. 7.

He consulted with Dr. Richard D. Parker at the Cleveland Clinic Marymount, along with Wizards head team physician Wiemi Douoguih, and underwent an MRI on Friday. The doctors decided that Wall would receive platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and viscosupplementation injections in hopes of reducing the inflammation in his knee.

Wall could be back in time to join the team in Los Angeles, California, on Dec. 9 against the Clippers, or even when the team returns to D.C. on Dec. 1, when Washington hosts Memphis.

“I’m fine with John missing two weeks if this is going to make him better,” center Marcin Gortat said Saturday. “Two weeks are not two months. We can cover for him for two weeks and then he’s going to come back stronger, better, healthy and then hopefully we can go from there. That said, he’s our leader.”

John Wall is just 35 points away from passing Phil Chenier for sixth place in all time scoring in Washington team history.
