WASHINGTON — A very much alive Mark Twain once said, “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.” It’s not that serious for DeAngelo Hall. He is just fine, but the subject of Hall and retirement created some confusion.
Hall has now tweeted out, “To everyone who sent their love and wishes thank you but I haven’t retired. However I do think I’ve played my last football game. But my official retirement announcement won’t come until I’ve 100% committed myself to the next chapter of my life. Which I haven’t yet decided.”

At Ryan Kerrigan’s Leukemia and Lymphoma Society golf tournament on Monday, Hall talked to reporters about the next chapter of his life and sounded like he was ready for retirement.
Hall told ESPN and the Richmond Times Dispatch, “I’m not playing. That’s for damn sure.” He discussed future options, including broadcasting or working for an NFL team.
The comments by Hall then prompted the Redskins to congratulate Hall on Twitter for a successful career. A little over four hours later the Redskins sent out another tweet and said that Hall had not yet officially decided to retire despite reports.
In short, Hall has made it clear he is ready to move on and has indicated he would rather make a more formal announcement on retirement instead of through comments at golf tournament. Hall spent ten of his 14 seasons in the NFL with the Redskins and made the Pro Bowl three times.
