WASHINGTON — The ninth episode of the seventh season of NFL Network’s documentary series “A Football Life” will feature Redskins Hall of Fame coach Joe Gibbs on Friday night.
The one-hour show includes interviews from former Redskins Joe Theismann, John Riggins, Dexter Manley and Darrell Green, along with famed ‘Skins fan Dale Earnhardt Jr. and many more.
The show will pay tribute to Gibbs’ legacy. In his dominant first go-round with the Redskins, Gibbs compiled a 124-60 regular season record and a 16-5 postseason record in 12 seasons. Gibbs is the only coach to have won three Super Bowls with three different quarterbacks: Theismann (XVII), Doug Williams (XXII), and Mark Rypien (XXVI).
Upon retiring for the first time in 1993, Gibbs continued his championship run at the helm of Joe Gibbs Racing. In 2004, he returned to coach the Redskins for four seasons, making two more playoff appearances before retiring at the end of the 2007 season.
WTOP’s George Wallace spoke with the Hall-of-Famer about the show, his Super Bowls, RFK Stadium and this year’s version of the Redskins.
This is must-see TV. Set your DVR’s for Friday night at 9 p.m.
