Under Armour to close stores, corporate employees encouraged to work from home

Under Armour Inc. is closing all of its stores in North America for two weeks to help slow down the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The stores will be closed from March 16 through March 28, according to a statement released Sunday afternoon by the Baltimore-based sportswear maker. Under Armour said the health and safety of its customers and employees “is our top priority.”

“We are monitoring the situation globally, and closure decisions are being made on a country-by-country basis as necessary to protect our teammates and customers,” the statement read.

Under Armour has 169 outlet stores in North America and 19 brand house stores as of Dec. 31, according to federal filings. Under Armour encouraged customers to continue shopping online. In Greater Washington, the company has two brand house stores, one in Tysons Corner Center and another in the Westfield Montgomery Mall, and four factory outlet stores in National Harbor, Clarksburg, Potomac Mills and Leesburg outlet malls.
