Man charged in death of Virginia college administrator

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A man jailed in an unrelated case has been indicted in the death of a Virginia college administrator.

The Richmond Police Department says in a statement on Monday that 59-year-old Thomas E. Clark was indicted by a grand jury on charges of murder, rape and abduction with intent to defile.

Police say Clark, who is in the Henrico County jail, was arrested in May on charges which were not revealed. That arrest came one week after the death of Suzanne Fairman, an operational administrator at Virginia Commonwealth University’s academic learning transformation lab.

At the time, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported a bloody knife was found on a nearby counter in Fairman’s home, and the bathtub water was still running when police arrived for a welfare check.
