Man accused of Woodbridge rape arrested in Connecticut

WASHINGTON — Authorities arrested a man accused of raping a girl in Woodbridge earlier this month.

On Wednesday, members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Jose Alvaro Menjivar Navarette, 32, in New Haven, Connecticut, after police said he raped a girl at a residence in Woodbridge on Nov. 5.

The Prince William County police said Menjivar Navarette sexually assaulted a family member around 1 a.m. Police were unable to find Menjivar Navarette following the incident, and he fled the area to avoid arrest, said Prince William County police spokesman Officer Nathan Probus.

Menjivar Navarette is being held in Connecticut pending extradition to Virginia. His court date has not yet been scheduled.
