WASHINGTON — A woman who escaped police during a trip to the hospital early Friday morning is back in custody.

Prince William County Police say Theresa Elaine Brown, 24, escaped from the Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center after having complained of pain.

Police initially arrested her around 11:15 p.m. Thursday night on a warrant for multiple failure to appear and probation violation charges.

At the hospital, Brown used a private hallway to escape around 4 a.m., Friday Feb. 13, police say.

She was taken back into custody without incident at the Dumfries Plaza Shopping Center Friday afternoon.

Brown was originally charged with assault and battery in connection with biting a toddler in preschool.
