WASHINGTON — Total shutdowns of multiple stretches of the Blue and Yellow lines, plus major delays along the entire Red Line, are set to disrupt Metro trips this weekend.
The shutdown also means no trains will run south from Reagan National Airport, and only Blue Line service will run north toward D.C.
Yellow Line
The Yellow Line is shut down between King Street, Braddock Road and Reagan National Airport, in addition to a shutdown of the bridge over the Potomac River connecting Virginia and the District.
Yellow Line trains are only scheduled to run between Huntington and King Street both Saturday and Sunday.
The last train bound for King Street will leave stations 16 minutes earlier than usual.
The last train bound for Huntington will leave King Street and Eisenhower Avenue station 23 minutes later than usual.
Blue Line
The shutdown between King Street and Reagan National Airport means Blue Line trains run in two separate segments most of the weekend. There is an additional shutdown Sunday morning for an emergency drill.
On Saturday and Sunday, Blue Line trains are scheduled every 16 minutes between Franconia-Springfield and King Street, and every 12 to 16 minutes from National Airport toward Rosslyn and through the District.
The Braddock Road station will be closed.
The last train bound for King Street will leave stations 25 minutes earlier than usual.
The last train bound for Franconia-Springfield will leave King Street and Van Dorn Street station 23 minutes later than usual.
Sunday emergency drill
On Sunday from the system’s opening at 8 a.m. until about 2 p.m., there will be no Blue or Silver Line service between Addison Road and Largo Town Center for a Metro emergency drill. Shuttle buses will run.
The rest of the Silver Line is scheduled to run normally. The Blue Line segment north of Reagan National Airport will run only to Addison Road during the drill.
Major Red Line delays
Red Line trains are scheduled only every 28 minutes Saturday and Sunday. Trains are scheduled to single-track between Dupont Circle and Judiciary Square.
The last train bound for Shady Grove will leave stations 15 minutes earlier than usual.
There is no scheduled track work on the Green or Orange lines this weekend.
