LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — A Prince George’s County fire official says a Metro train was evacuated after smoke was reported under a railcar.
Fire department spokesman Mark Brady said by telephone that firefighters were called to the Landover Metro station on Friday morning for a report of a fire under a car. He says passengers got off the train safely before firefighters arrived.
Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said that a brake pad likely that did not fully release, which caused friction and smoke.
Metro had Orange Line trains using one track between New Carrollton and Cheverly. Single-tracking has ended.
