WASHINGTON — Thanksgiving is traditionally the time to stuff yourself with turkey and pumpkin pie in the company of family members.
But more than a quarter of American workers plan to spend Thanksgiving with co-workers, according to a new survey.
Twenty-eight percent of respondents in a survey by jobs-search site CareerBuilder.com said they plan to spend Turkey Day with co-workers — either in our out of the office.
That’s up from 20 percent who planned to spend the holiday with work pals last year.
“Workers may be growing closer to those at work or may simply plan on being in the office” on Thanksgiving, a CareerBuilder post stated.
Just 1 percent of survey respondents said they preferred to spend the holiday with co-workers. An overwhelming 91 percent said they preferred spending it with family.
A few Grinches — eight percent of respondents — said “neither.”
All told, about 22 percent of people said they plan to work on Thanksgiving — about on par with the number of holiday workers last year, according to the survey.
