Virginia’s attorney general is suing a service dog organization he claims endangered lives with false claims the dogs can alert people to fluctuations in blood sugar and get help if needed.
A program that prepares service dogs for permanent placement with wounded veterans and their families has been booted from Fort Belvoir and Walter Reed without explanation, the program’s executive director says.
“Some people get on the floor with the dogs and they roll around. It’s pure joy,” said Denise “Dino” Sierp, who heads the service dogs organization.
While dogs can\’t cure post-traumatic stress disorder, they help troubled veterans cope and move on with their lives.
