Enough! How to eliminate politics from your Facebook feed

WASHINGTON — With November still months away, many Facebook users are already tired of political stories, commentary, polls and opinions clogging their feeds.

In a divisive political atmosphere, there is now a way to silence the political bullhorns and return Facebook to its original role of sharing cute kitten photos and discussions of other less controversial topics.

A free Chrome extension called Remove All Politics From Facebook lets users decide when they want to filter everything political out of their feed.

After installing the extension, the user will automatically get a toolbar icon with an on-off switch for political items in their news feed.

Click On, and politics will appear on the feed — click Off, and political stories will disappear once you reload Facebook.

The developer notes don’t specify how the process works, but it likely is based on specific names and keywords, according to CNET.

While the filter seems to work well to eliminate political stories and opinions, it can’t guarantee you won’t see another anger-inducing image on your Facebook feed.

“Unfortunately memes will still exist,” writes the developer in the notes. “We will do our best to take care of the rest.”
