Police: 13-year-old boy tried to abduct woman from side of road in Woodbridge

WASHINGTON — A 13-year-old Woodbridge, Virginia, boy has been charged with abduction after police say he grabbed a woman who was walking outside and tried to drag her into the street.

The 36-year-old woman told Prince William County police she was walking along Elm Farm Road near the intersection with Pennington Lane Road in Woodbridge on Saturday evening. She noticed the suspect following her on his bicycle before he dismounted, ran toward her, grabbed her and tried to drag her into the middle of the street, police said.

The woman screamed and was able to get away from the teen who fled on foot. Police responded to the area at about 7 p.m. The woman reported receiving minor injuries in the scuffle.

A police K-9 unit and helicopter from Fairfax County were used to search for the suspect who later identified as a 13-year-old of Woodbridge.

Police have not identified the teen because he is a juvenile. He has been charged with abduction and is currently be held in the county’s juvenile detention center.
