WASHINGTON – A crash involving a tractor-trailer full of printing ink had traffic backed up Thursday morning on the northbound side of Interstate 95 in Prince William County.
The accident happened around Exit 156, before Dale City, just before midnight Wednesday night; another tractor-trailer rear-ended the truck with the ink. The driver of the ink truck has been cited; there were no injuries.
As of 5:30 a.m., the backups began near Route 234, and the popular alternative Route 1 was already seeing significant delays.
By 5 a.m., the truck had been removed, but the cleanup of the ink continued. By 6 a.m., all lanes except the right ramp lane to Dale Boulevard, were reopened, and the ramp was reopened shortly after 7:30, but slowdowns remained.
