1 critical after tractor trailer overturns on Beltway in Prince George’s Co.

WASHINGTON — Major delays hampered drivers for hours and one person is in critical condition after a tractor trailer overturned on the Inner Loop of the Beltway on Friday in Maryland.

Prince George’s County Fire and EMS spokesman Mark Brady said the crash happened near MD-450/Annapolis Road in the median.

Brady said one patient was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Around 10:30 a.m., in the same area farther south on 495, a vehicle fire broke out, increasing travel issues.

Delays continued to plague drivers on both loops of the Beltway through the afternoon rush hour.

The crash scene was finally cleared shortly after 7 p.m. nearly 13 hours after the the truck flipped over.
