1 dead, 4 injured in multicar crash in Prince George’s County

WASHINGTON — One person is dead and four others were being hospitalized after a mutlicar crash in Prince George’s County early Thursday evening.

Fire and EMS workers responded to the scene a little after 5:30 p.m. on Maryland Route 202 at Watkins Park Drive, between Largo and Upper Marlboro, according to the county fire department. Crews found a United States Postal Service truck, a GMC pickup and a Dodge Ram pickup involved in the crash.

The driver and sole occupant of the GMC pickup was pronounced dead shortly after emergency responders arrived on the scene. The other four victims were taken to the hospital.

Police said their preliminary investigation showed the driver of the GMC pickup crossed the center line and hit a white Dodge Ram head-on, the USPS mail truck traveling behind the Dodge Ram was unable to stop in time to avoid crashing into the truck.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
