Woman accused of embezzling $100K from Md. pool club indicted

BOWIE, Md. —  A Maryland woman has been indicted and arrested, accused of embezzling money from a Bowie swim club.

The Belair Bath and Tennis Club stated in an email to its members Thursday that its former treasurer, Stefanie Schneider, was indicted last week on an embezzlement charge, accused of taking over $100,000.

Schneider was arrested in Anne Arundel County on Thursday.

The organization said it first realized something was wrong at this time last year, when the management company said it wasn’t getting its regular payments on time and county records showed it was behind on taxes.

Schneider resigned from her position a short time after the discovery, the club said.
