Nanny charged in Pr. George’s baby’s asphyxiation

WASHINGTON — A nanny faces second-degree murder and first-degree child abuse charges in connection with the death of an eight-month-old Glenarden, Maryland, baby who died of asphyxiation while in her care.

Prince George’s County police charged Oluremi Oyindasola, 66, of Glenarden, in the death of Enita Salubi of Glenarden.

Police say the unresponsive baby, who had been in Oyindasola’s care, was rushed to the hospital Sunday afternoon. She was pronounced dead a short time later.

The death was ruled a homicide after an autopsy found the cause to be asphyxiation.

“The preliminary investigation revealed the injuries to the baby occurred while in the sole care and custody of Oyindasola,” a news release said.
