U. Md. police investigate after naked man interrupts student’s workout

WASHINGTON — University of Maryland police are investigating reports of a naked man on campus who interrupted a female student’s early-morning exercise routine and attempted to work out alongside her.

The student, who was working out in the plaza area of the east side of Tawes Hall called police at about 5:19 a.m. Monday to report the indecent exposure, according to a safety notice from university police.

The student said she heard noises behind her while she was working out. When she turned around, she saw a naked man who began to work out with her and attempted to talk to her.

After she called police, the man left the area via the footpath between Tawes Hall and the Art-Sociology Building,

University police are investigating the incident and encourage anyone with information to contact them at 301-405-3555.

The campus police department provides an escort service for anyone who feels unsafe when walking on or near campus.
