Md. county executive may decide on gubernatorial race soon

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker III says he will decide whether he’ll run for governor of Maryland after the November presidential elections.

The Washington Post (http://wapo.st/2d4J8Uv ) reports that 57-year-old Baker said that he’ll talk to his family before deciding whether he will run against Gov. Larry Hogan in 2018.

Baker, who is a Democrat, has been frequently mentioned as a likely challenger to the Republican governor. Baltimore’s county executive, Kevin Kamenetz, and U.S. Rep. John Delaney have also been mentioned as potential contenders.

Baker is nearly halfway through his second and final term as county executive.
