Off-duty deputy involved in shooting in Prince George’s

WASHINGTON — An off-duty sheriff’s deputy was involved in an early morning shooting Sunday in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

It happened shortly before 2 a.m. on the 10500 block of Campus Way South in Largo. The Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office said two men — at least one with a gun and a mask — approached an off-duty deputy and tried to rob him.

The preliminary investigation by Prince George’s County police found one of the suspects shot at the deputy who then returned fire.

The suspects then ran from the scene and got into a car driven by a third suspect, the Prince George’s County Police Department said.

There were no reports of injuries.

The deputy is on administrative leave following the shooting.
