Loved ones reeling from murder of Fort Washington mother, toddler

WASHINGTON — Friends and relatives, reeling from an unthinkable crime, gathered Tuesday night at Community Temple Bibleway Church in Cheverly, Maryland, to comfort each other.

Earlier in the day, NeShante Davis and her 2-year old daughter, Chloe Davis-Green, were shot and killed outside their home in Fort Washington.

“It’s just a shock,” Melonie Parker, a family friend, told NBC Washington. “How could you look a child in their face and shoot a child?”

Investigators spent hours at the crime scene, but they have not yet identified a suspect or a motive.

Davis’ mother, Carolyn Turner, spoke briefly to NBC Washington, saying, “I love her; she’s my daughter. I’m going to miss her and Chloe.”

Davis was a second-grade teacher at Bradbury Heights Elementary School. Counselors are there to help students, staff and parents.
