LANDOVER, Md. — Landover Road was shut down in Landover for several hours after a fatal early morning crash Thursday.
Prince George’s County police say a vehicle was traveling westbound on Landover Road around 2:45 a.m. Thursday when the driver lost control, crashed into a pole and vehicle caught fire at the intersection of Md. 202/Landover Road and Barlowe Road.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, but because of the severity of the collision, officials do not know how many people were inside the vehicle originally.
Investigators did not immediately know what caused the crash to happen.
Landover Road was closed between Kenmoor Drive and Barlowe Road while police investigated. The road was reopened just before 8 a.m.
The closure affected drivers who use Landover Road east of Md. 704/Martin Luther King Jr. Highway.
