Our first Arlington Pet of the Week for September is Willie, who has gone from abandoned country pup to full-grown Arlington dog.

Here’s what owner Josh had to say about him:

In 2009 a crack commando puppy was sent to prison by a military court for a crime he didn’t commit. This puppy promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Arlington underground. Today, still wanted by the government, he survives as a soldier of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help — and if you can find him – maybe you can hire: Willie-dog.

Willie is a North American Brown Dog of fine breeding and good taste. He is a champion tennis ball fetcher and local squirrel bane. When left to his own devices, I suspect he works on his latest screen play (a period piece about Marie Antoinette’s faithful hound, Gunter) and blogs about the latest trends in dog social science.

Willie’s humans try to make up for the fact that he was abandoned in the woods with his litter as a pup. Reparations involve premium dog treats, belly rubs and being allowed to sleep on the bed. It’s a ruff life, but he makes it, one day at a time.

The Arlington Pet of the Week is sponsored by Dogma Bakery, which has locations at The Village at Shirlington (2772 S. Arlington Mill Drive) and the Lee Harrison Shopping Center (2445 N. Harrison Street).
