S. Tien Wong is no stranger to entrepreneurship — or to the need to constantly evolve.

The CEO of McLean’s Opus8 Inc. set it up as an investment vehicle two decades ago, after he exited his prior company, CyberRep Inc. But over time, Opus8 expanded and morphed into a consulting company to help its clients raise more money. It started organizing events such as Connectpreneur, a massive pitch competition for startups and investors. And it built a network of more than 3,000 high-net-worth accredited investors and family offices.

But the Covid-19 pandemic sparked urgency for another, much faster change: pivoting Connectpreneur from a 500-attendee, in-person event held eight times a year to a monthly virtual event that now draws twice that — 1,000 people — to each iteration.

It didn’t happen with the snap of a finger.
