Legendary jazz singer Al Jarreau dies, CBS reports

WASHINGTON — Seven-time Grammy-winner Al Jarreau has died in Los Angeles, his manager told CBS on Sunday.

The legendary jazz singer’s biggest hit was “We’re in This Love Together” in 1981, though his career spans 50 years. He also sang the theme to the TV show “Moonlighting.”

Jarreau announced on his website Tuesday that he had been forced to retire from touring “with complete sorrow” due to exhaustion after his medical team told him he couldn’t perform any of his remaining concert dates.

Jarreau would have been 77 next month.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
