McCoy to start for Redskins against Colts, RG3 sidelined

WASHINGTON – Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden confirms that Colt McCoy will start instead of Robert Griffin III at quarterback against the Indianapolis Colts Sunday.

In a conference call with Indianapolis media, Gruden said that Griffin would be McCoy’s backup for the game.

The Skins are 0-3 since RG3 returned to the lineup Nov. 2. Griffin has thrown 3 interceptions and has been sacked 16 times in those three losses. And the team has been held to a pair of touchdowns in their two games since the bye week Nov. 9

Gruden addresses the D.C. media Wednesday afternoon after the team’s 1 p.m. practice.

Every NFL team makes their coach available via conference call with their opponent’s local media; thus his “dress rehearsal” of announcing that McCoy will start Sunday.
