There are a few new restaurant tidbits to share, two of them steak-related. Here’s a roundup of new Greater Washington restaurant news:
DC Prime: The family of restaurants behind the Travinia Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar restaurants in Leesburg and Woodbridge is expanding its reach in the D.C. region with a new concept: DC Prime. The “fine dining steakhouse” is coming to Ashburn in the Lakeview at University Center development at U.S. Route 7 and Loudoun County Parkway.
The restaurant will be built on a restaurant pad site and open in the fall of 2014, according to Lakeview developer MidAtlantic Realty Partners LLC. Lakeview is home to 200,000 square feet of office space, a Primrose School and a SpringHill Suites by Marriott hotel. The only other freestanding restaurant there now is Chick-fil-A, but there are pad sites for up to five other restaurants.
DC Prime will come from the Craig Group of restaurants, which owns 11 locations of Travinia Italian Kitchen, two locations of Arizona’s Southewestern Grill and one Arizona’s Steakhouse throughout the Southeast.
“We look forward to announcing additional property sales both for this phase of the development and the second phase across Loudoun County Parkway,” said Zach Wade, principal of MRP Realty.
BC Steak: The closed location of Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse in Gaithersburg will reopen as BC Steak and Silver Birch Bar, the restaurant’s parent company said. The Canadian ski lodge-themed steakhouse will keep the rustic atmosphere but add wider-ranging menu offerings, including whiskey shrimp, Maryland-style crab cake and cedar plank salmon.
The company, Capitol BC LLC, will also feature a separated bar and lounge area that features shuffleboard tables and darts. The bar menu will include more wines by the glass, more local craft beers and an updated cocktail list. The goal of the revamp is to appeal to more young professionals, according to a release from the company.
El Camino: The new Mexican restaurant I wrote about previously from the owners of 1905 Restaurant in Shaw has a name: El Camino. A rep for the restaurant brings word that El Camino is aiming to open this summer in Bloomingdale at 108 Rhode Island Ave. NW. El Camino will be a full-service restaurant featuring traditional Mexican food and a “variety of Latin cocktails.”
