WASHINGTON – May is a big month for biking, and everyone’s invited to play.
On Wednesday May 8, there will be 70 schools across the region taking part in National Bike to School Day as part of National Bike Month. Many schools partner with the Safe Routes to Schools program as a way to encourage kids to bike and walk to school.

In addition, On May 17 grown-ups can feel like a kid again and break out the bike for Bike to Work Day. Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association host up to 10,000 area commuters that day.
Seventy “pit stops” will be set up throughout the region. Participants who register for the event could even win a free bike to keep them on a roll beyond the month of May.
