Rogue 24 chef R.J. Cooper will be taking some time off from his tasting menu-centric restaurant to undergo open heart surgery. But that doesn’t mean the restaurant will languish in his absence.
The chef has enlisted a roster of celebrity chefs, some local and some otherwise, to fill in for him. Each will take on a one-week rotation at the destination restaurant, which opened in Blagden Alley this summer. First up: Frederick-based chef and “Top Chef” alumnus Bryan Voltaggio.
Other participating chefs include: Jose Andres (ThinkFoodGroup), Tim Byres (Smoke of Dallas), Jennifer Carroll (Philadelphia, “Top Chef”), John Currence (“Top Chef Masters”, Oxford, Mass.), Scott Drewno (The Source), Katsuya Fukushima (Daikaya, formerly minibar), Spike Gjerde (Woodberry Kitchen in Baltimore), Nancy Oakes (San Francisco), David Posey (Chicago).
The Web site Gilt City will announce the chefs each week and sell tickets ($185 per person with a maximum of 250 seats) and the site CityEats will handle reservations.
