Robbery suspect in Montgomery Co. hit by car while fleeing scene

WASHINGTON — A man who robbed a bus passenger in Montgomery County, Maryland, was then struck by a car while fleeing the scene.

Now Montgomery County police are searching for both the robber and the driver who hit him.

Police said in a news release that on April 13, the suspect and a 34-year-old man were sitting next to each other in the back of a Ride On bus traveling westbound on East Gude Drive in Rockville.

The suspect stole the victim’s wallet; and when the victim realized it was stolen, he struggled with the suspect.

The bus driver stopped the bus at the intersection of East Gude Drive and Taft Street because of the ruckus. The suspect got out of the bus with the victim in pursuit.

Video surveillance of the area showed the suspect running across the westbound lanes where he was struck by a green Subaru SUV.

The suspect got up and continued to run and the victim continued to follow him.

The driver of the Subaru stopped but then drove on, failing to remain on the scene, police said.

Police are looking for the suspect and the driver of the Subaru and ask anyone who may know or have information to call 240-773-6084.

Below is a video of the incident from inside the bus and on the road.
