WASHINGTON — A man who helped put on after-school programs in Montgomery County, Maryland, is charged with a sex offense involving a student, and police think there may be more victims.

Montgomery County police said during an interview with them, Roy Andres Simmons III, 41, of Gaithersburg, admitted to inappropriately touching a 10-year-old girl.

Police got a warrant Tuesday for Simmons’ arrest, and on Thursday, he turned himself in.

He’s charged with one count of fourth-degree sex offense and one count of second-degree assault.

Investigators said the inappropriate contact happened in November 2016 when the girl was a student at Carderock Springs Elementary School in Potomac. That’s when she attended an after-school event sponsored by a company called “Kids Adventures,” which Simmons worked for, police said.

Police got a report about the incident in May and began investigating Simmons.

If you think your child has also come in contact with Simmons, you’re asked to talk with them about his behavior. And if you believe your child was victimized, police want to hear from you. Contact detectives at 240-773-5400.
