SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) — Montgomery County police say a student has been charged after pretending to be a school security officer reporting a bomb threat at a Silver Spring high school.
Police say emergency officials received a call Tuesday around noon from a person identifying themselves as a Montgomery Blair High School security officer. Police say the caller falsely told them that a student had said there was a bomb at the school.
Police say the school was evacuated and searched but no device was found.
Police say that a student acknowledged making the call and falsely reporting the threat. Police say the student has been charged as juvenile with making a false statement concerning a destructive device, among other charges.
Police did not release the name of the student.
