WASHINGTON —Sex abuse charges have been filed against a Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School teacher, who is accused of using his cellphone to sneak a photo up a student’s skirt.
Montgomery County police accused Todd Scriber, 38, of taking suggestive photos of at least three girls in his classroom without their knowledge.
Three counts of sex abuse of a minor charges were filed against Scriber on Friday, court records accessed online show. Police said he turned himself in on Wednesday.
The charges stem from an investigation that was launched back in October, when a teen girl taking a test in Scriber’s class after school claimed he used a cellphone to take photos underneath her skirt when she went to his desk to ask a question. Police said they questioned Scriber about it the next day and saw suggestive photos of other high school girls on his phone — at which point, police claim, Scriber tried to take back the phone.
Detectives were able to identify three teen girls from the phone photos and have asked that other possible victims call the police department’s Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5400.
Montgomery County Public Schools placed Scriber on leave after the October interview. Police said Scriber is no longer employed with the school system.
A court hearing has been scheduled for July 8 in Rockville, Maryland.
