FBI agent convicted of hitting teenager

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) — An FBI agent has been convicted of striking a 15-year-old boy in the chest during a domestic dispute.

A jury in Montgomery County on Friday found 46-year-old Gerald Rogero of Oxon Hill guilty of second-degree misdemeanor assault.

The Washington Post reports that in December, Rogero, in an incident captured on cellphone video that was played for jurors, hit the teenager with the heel of his hand. The youth fell backward onto the sidewalk.

Prosecutors say the confrontation took place outside a Chevy Chase condominium during a custody exchange of a child.

Sentencing is set for Jan. 20. A spokesman for the FBI tells The Post that Rogero is on active duty status.
