Md. teen charged as an adult for burglaries, handgun possession

WASHINGTON — Montgomery County detectives arrested and charged a 17-year-old from Capitol Heights for two residential burglaries and possession of a handgun.

On June 24, officers received a call from a homeowner on the 700 block of Pershing Drive, saying a burglary was in progress. Wayne A. Robinson, 17, was later identified as the attempted burglar, according to Montgomery County police.

Robinson was taken into custody after officers saw him fleeing the area. On him, they found a .40 caliber Beretta handgun and a stolen credit card, police say.

The investigation led to uncovering two previous offenses that Robinson is being charged as an adult for.

The credit card was reported stolen from a burglary that occurred earlier on June 20, and the handgun was stolen from a 2014 burglary in Rockville, Maryland.

The offenses he is being charged with are from the June 24 and June 20 burglaries and handgun possession, as well as theft of the handgun stolen in 2014.

Robinson is being held on bond for $100,000.
