National Geographic Museum presents “Titanic: The Untold Story,” featuring real-life artifacts and movie props from the 1997 blockbuster. Many hobbyists and professionals have depicted Titanic in various mediums. Titanic is one of the most popular subjects for model shipbuilders. The creator of this model worked as a welder in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, working on such ships as the USS Missouri, where he developed a deep love of grand ships. About a dozen volunteers gathered at the African American Civil War Memorial with cloths, orange buckets, cleaning solutions and their muscles to help restore the memorial’s shine in D.C. on Saturday. Volunteers didn’t just clean the panels – they also got down and cleaned out the gutters of the memorial. (WTOP/Liz Anderson)

Tunnel-boring machine “Chris” was lowered underground Thursday. The behemoth will spend the next two and a half years slowly chewing through more than 5 miles of earth underneath Northeast D.C. to make way for a sewer tunnel.
