Md. authorities identify remains found in shallow grave

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Authorities in western Maryland have identified human remains found in a shallow grave by a hiker in a wooded area.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Thursday that the human remains found in Frederick on June 30 have been identified as 37-year-old Victor Antonio Turcios-Valle of Silver Spring.

Turcios-Valle was last seen by family on April 2 and a missing person report was eventually filed. His remains were identified through DNA examination and comparison, but officials say the medical examiner’s office has not yet determined the manner and cause of Turcios-Valle’s death.
