WASHINGTON — Police departments across the state of Maryland are getting some added protection.

From Allegany to Worcester County, police departments large and small are getting additional state funding in the form of grants to cover the cost of body armor.

The funding was announced by Gov. Larry Hogan’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention.

Baltimore City is getting the largest amount: $14,000. Carroll County’s Hampstead Police Department will get $315.
