HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) _ The Washington County Board of Education says it has adopted three new policies regarding the school system’s child-abuse reporting methods, superintendent evaluations and diversity initiatives.
The Herald-Mail (http://bit.ly/1MpGlAZ ) reports the board of education unanimously adopted the policies Tuesday. School system officials say under the new policies, all employees of the school system _ including administrative staff, bus drivers and custodians_ will be required to report any incidents of suspected abuse or neglect as soon as possible, but without compromising the safety of a student.
In addition, officials say the superintendent’s annual performance evaluation will now be a mutually agreeable process between the superintendent and the board. Lastly, the board says it adopted a diversity policy which was proposed on Sept. 1. It welcomes diversity amongst members of the school community.
